Triple Crown SX: Round 4 Hamilton, ON | Photo Report

November 23, 2018

Photos by James Lissimore It's been a long season for the Canadian motocross scene. For the first time ever they ran a full Triple Crown Series starting early in 2018 with the AX Tour, then MX Tour and wrapping things up this past weekend with the SX Tour here in Hamilton, Ontario. For most amateur riders in Canada there are few opportunities to practice indoors or even race indoors. This has really been a test year for everyone from the series promotors to the riders who are all experiencing something new. While there have been a few bumps in the road and we will see changes made to fix those bumps for 2019, it has been a great year of racing. Let's take a look at where we round out the season with the Triple Crown Series at the Hamilton SX.
Dominating the 65 Open class at Hamilton was Team Holeshot rider Nolan Booker.
Freelton, Ontario fast guy Cooper Wallis would take the overall win for 50 Open and finish in 4th place for 65 Open.
Christian Plasse would finish 5th in the 65 Open class.
Local rider Kyle Brown had a great ride under the lights with a 1st place finish in Intermediate Open.
#93 Chris Servos took 4th and #464 Carlos Ponce took 11th in Intermediate Open.
Jamie Powell would finish the night with 19th in the Intermediate Open class.
Calvin Barnhart would take 7th in Intermediate Open.
We had plenty of FXR lined up for the Intermediate class in Hamilton.
Great to see Wyatt Waddell back in the mix after sitting out QC with concussion.
Carlson Racing rider Waddell eased himself back into action in Hamilton and would take 10th place.
Erin, Ontario privateer Sam Gaynor cut his teeth for indoors during this SX tour.
After a rough first moto where he cased a jump and hurt his ankle, Gaynor muscled through moto 2 to finish 11th. Sam would take 12th overall and he will sport the national #80 for the 2019 season.
New to the SX Tour was honorary Canadian, Cade Clason who made his return on a two-stroke.
Clason was supported by Direct Motocross and Blackstock Motorsports for his 250 ride this weekend.
Cade would take 2nd in his heat race and finish 4th overall.
Cade will return to the Triple Crown Series in 2019 with National Career number 12.
The locals had this guy to cheer for. Marco Cannella would be awarded Rookie of the Year at the banquet the next day.
Cannella would take 4th in his heat race and finish 5th overall.
Cannella's season wouldn't have been possible without the help from his man-friend Cale Foster who has spun the wrenches all year long.
Jess Pettis would take the win in his heat race.
Jess had some pretty epic battles, exchanging blue and green paint during the night with former team mate Shawn Maffenbeier.
Deep thoughts with Jess Pettis.
Pettis would finish the night with 3rd overall and would take the overall points win for the SX Tour.
That #1 red plate would stick for the SX Tour for Pettis.
OTSFF Rockstar Yamaha rider Phil Nicoletti was back and ready to put things on the podium in Hamilton.
Phil discusses toque vs beanie with FXR brand manager Andy White.
Nicoletti would take the win for his heat race.
The final race Phil wasn't able to hold off Thompson and would take 2nd overall.
